This brochure explains to translation buyers and sellers (the latter including individual translators, of course) why it is important to agree on project specifications
before beginning a job.
It is aimed at readers who might not be aware of the official translation standards now published (in Europe and the US), or who might not want to buy these. The information in the brochure will help readers to formalize, at no cost, their agreement on who does what, when, and how in any translation project.
It was designed as a companion piece to the short client-education brochure "Translation, getting it right" written by
C. Durban in 2000 (now translated into eight languages).
