This special visibility event was the outcome of joint work undertaken by the Argentine Association of Translators and Interpreters (AATI), the Caro y Cuervo Institute and the Colombian Association of Translators, Terminologists and Interpreters (ACTTI), and it had the support of FIT and FIT LatAm, as well as of the Swiss Cultural Program Pro Helvetia-Coincidencia, the University of East Anglia (UEA), the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF), Research England, the Brazilian Association of Translators and Interpreters (ABRATES), the National Indigenous Organisation of Colombia (ONIC) and the Amazon Indigenous Peoples Organisation (OPIAC).
The participants were eighteen translators and interpreters of the Aymara, Cabillary, Guarani, Kaingang, Kurripaco, Mapudungun, Mixteco Tu'un Savi, Nasa Yuwe, Quichua, Quechua, Qom, Romansh, German Swiss, Uwottüja, Wichí and Xokleng languages from twelve countries, who focused on the importance of their role, the tasks they perform and the contexts in which they work as interpreters.
